Carpe Deim, boys, Carpe Deim!

In 1958, Jerry Lee Lewis went to No. 1 in the charts with ‘Great Balls of Fire’. The LEGO company patented toy bricks. Elvis Presley joined the US army. The Church of England announced that contraceptives were not immoral and family planning was not against the teachings of Jesus. The Catholic Church meanwhile announced that reciting decades of the Rosary was an equally effective method, a position maintained by the Vatican to this day. Pele ran riot in the World Cup as Brazil became champions, Aer Lingus bought their first two aircraft and Owen Roes GAC Coleraine was formed. Of these events, the last was the most important.
