Derry City FC are delighted to announce that Dean Jarvis has committed his future to the Brandywell for another season, agreeing a one year deal with the club last night.
Jarvis joined the club in June 2013 from city neighbours Institute, and played across the back line in the closing stages on the 2013 campaign. Whilst primarily a full back, injuries saw the 21 year old local slot in at centre half in a number of games at the tail end of last season. Signed on a short term contract, there was som press speculation that Jarvis may join the likes of Eugene Ferry and David McDaid but Jarvis joined pre-season training with the Candystripes last week at the Vale Centre.
Jarvis made his debut in the hard fought FAI Cup victory over Bluebell United in August 2013 and then made his league debut the same week. The youngster suffered injuries during his first season but impressed many with his overlapping runs as well as his composure when asked to fill in at centre half. Jarvis managed eight appearances in his first season and opened his goalscoring account on the final night of the season in the 6-0 rout over Limerick.
Following this training and talks with the management team, the young defender has committed his future to his local side and will be an important part of City’s challenge in the 2014 season.
