City’s pre-season preparations were dealt a further blow as news emerged that the proposed friendly against Newbuildings F.C has been cancelled and will be rearranged for a date later in February.
The junior side saw their fixture this weekend fall victim to the weather and the rearrangement allows the pitch time to recover.
However City’s build up to the news season has been adversely affected by the weather, with this week’s game against Limavady United was cancelled as the pitch failed an inspection the day before the game.
This week’s proposed fixture against Coleraine is also under threat as the Bannsiders saw their game against Ballinamallard cancelled due to the poor condition of the surface at Ballycastle Road. We will keep you up to date with any further announcements or changes to the pre-season campaign. Currently the schedule is as follows
- January 28 – Coleraine (A), kick off time 7.45pm
- February 7 – Institute (A), kick off time TBC;
- February 11 – Glentorn (H), kick off time 7.45pm;
- February 16- Derry and District Select; kick off time TBC
- March 1 – Portadown (A), kick off time TBC;
- February – Newbuildings FC (A), kick off time TBC
- A friendly against Irish Premier Division side Glenavon has provisionally been organised, date and kick off time for this has yet to be confirmed.
