Derry face Meath in the Kehoe Cup semi-final

With an opening win against DCU under their belts, Derry senior hurlers recorded their second win of the year against third-level college opposition, overcoming Trinity College Dublin at Clanna Gael GAA.

With the teams evenly matched, it was the students who made the best of the first half to go in at the break 1-09 to 1-06 ahead – Derry’s goal having come from a Ruairi Convery penalty after 25mins.

The big Swatragh man struck again in the 50th minute, again from a penalty to set up an exciting finish. With Trinity leading by the narrowest of margins with three minutes remaining, it took a late Johnnny O’Dwyer goal to settle the matter with Derry progressing in the end by 3-11 to 2-11.

Ger Rogan’s men will now play Meath in Trim this Sunday (2 Feb) for a place in the Kehoe Cup final. Throw-in 2pm.
