Glory on offer for youngsters

Derry City U-19s v Finn Harps U-19s, Aileach, 2pm, Saturday

Eddie’s Seydak side have already secured a place in the Promotion Playoff Group(PPG) but victory tomorrow against Finn Harps would see them leapfrog Dundalk FC and grab the Northern Division title for 2013.

City’s victory over Letterkenny Rovers on Wednesday night ensure that the tussle between Derry and Dundalk would go to City’s final game, but more importantly, the fate of the title is in City’s hand.  Should they win tomorrow they move four points clear at the top of the Northern Division and with Dundalk only with one game left, City would be crowned as Northern Division champions.

So with the fate of the division on the line on Inch Island tomorrow, what can City expect?  The young side have lost only once so far this season, and that was an away game to their title rivals, Dundalk, way back in November.  Indeed Finn Harps are the only side who have taken points off City this season as the sides drew 1-1 in their meeting earlier in the season.  Indeed Harps started the season brightly but slipped out of contention and now sit third in the division, out of contention for the promotion places.

Whilst names such as Joshua Tracey, Conall Kelly may be somewhat familiar to City fans, due to sporadic appearances on the bench last season a number of the names on the timesheet may be unknown to most.  Georgie Kelly and Conor Tourish are amongst two who may catch the eye as they have been amongst the goals this season.

Why not get yourself along and support the young guns in their bid for glory.  For those that have not been to the venue, When you pass through Bridgend turn left onto Inch Road and the pitch on the left.

A bus is running from the Social Club to tomorrow’s game, leaving at 1.15pm and priced at £3.
