Derry City FC presented new signing, 5 year old Oliver Dickey to the press this morning before he joined up with the team on the training pitch.
In actual fact, Oliver’s friends and family got in touch with the club to make a young lad’s dream come true, and with the massive help of striker Rory Patterson, arrangements were put in place for young Oliver to come along to the Derry City training camp at the Vale Centre and be unveiled to the press with his Mum Charlene and Dad Neil looking on.
Oliver was presented with the number 5 shirt by his hero Rory Patterson and manager Roddy Collins as well as a signed Derry City shirt and then joined the squad for their training session getting to meet and get his photo taken with the players.
Oliver lives with a type of cerebral palsy called spastic diplegia and his parents hope to raise the £60,000 to travel to America for pioneering surgery that could see him walk for the first time.
