Derry City have received notification that the opening home fixture of the 2014 Airtricty Premier Division game season against Cork City F.C will be televised live on RTÉ Two.
In order to facilitate the live coverage of the game, the date and kick off time for the fixture must be changed. Therefore the game will now be played on Sunday 16th March, kick off time 3.15pm and not the original date of Friday 14th March.
The clash of the two cities has been a popular fixture for the cameras over the years, with the final games of the 2005 and 2006 season both being covered live by the television cameras. With both sides under new management and hoping to challenge for the League title in 2014 there is likely to be significant interest in the game from supporters.
We ask supporters to note that there is a significant GAA fixture to be played at 2pm the same day in Celtic Park where Derry GAA will entertain Dublin in the NFL.
