Watty Graham Park, Glen will be the venue for a unique double bill of Vocational Schools football finals on Wednesday afternoon.
The Derry finals of the U14 and U16 competitions take place between four schools located right across the county.
In the U14 final, St Mary’s Clady take on St Colm’s Draperstown (11.45am) in what appears to have more than a hint of the classic series of games between Bellaghy and Ballinascreen throughout 2013. With several players from both clubs representing their schools, it promises to be a cracking opening game.
The U16 final sees St Pat’s and St Brigid’s Claudy take on St Paul’s Kilrea at 1.15pm in what is a repeat of the U14 final of 2011 – a game in which St Paul’s emerged victorious. The Claudy lads beat Kilrea by two points in the group stages earlier in the year, setting up what looks like another tight encounter, notable for being Claudy’s fourth final in five years at this level.
Wednesday 11th December at Glen:
U14: St Mary’s Clady v St Colm’s Draperstown (11.45am)
U16: St Pat’s and St Brigid’s Claudy v St Paul’s Kilrea (1.15pm)
