Championship attendances show 15% increase in 2013

FINALS DAY 2013

Following Sunday’s Senior and Intermediate Football finals, Derry GAA has expressed satisfaction at increased attendances at this years’ domestic championship competitions in both hurling and football.

A crowd of approximately 7,500 people attended the Celtic Park double header which saw Ballinderry Shamrocks collect their third senior title in three years.

County Chairperson John Keenan commented:

“I would like to thank all patrons who attended Sunday’s games, and throughout 2013, in both hurling and football. We have been pragmatic with our admission prices and our patrons have responded with attendances at our championships showing a massive increase of 15% on 2012. These are good times in our time which can only be beneficial for the future of Derry GAA.

“I am very grateful to all those that have played their part by volunteering of their time for the many match-day duties. We strive to provide comfortable and convenient facilities for the playing and viewing of our games and will continue to refine our efforts in this respect.”
