St Patrick’s Athletic v Derry City, Inchicore, 7.45pm
The home side may have wrapped up the 2013 title last week, but the Candystripes will have an eye on puncturing the presentation party when they travel to Dublin tomorrow. With fourth spot, and the chance of a European spot, still up for grabs tomorrow’s night match will certainly be more than a procession for the home side.
Liam Buckley’s side have been the best side in the country this year and whilst he may extend warm congratulations to his opposite number, he knows that Pats are unlikely to roll over and will want to put on a show for the large crowd expected tomorrow night.
Speaking ahead of the game Declan Devine had this to say, “ "Thankfully they aren't needing to get anything from the game, but knowing Liam Buckley and a lot of their players they will be very professional in their approach and determined to finish off the season with a couple of wins. They'll obviously play with no pressure. They'll play with a freedom and a swagger I would imagine, and when they do that they are certainly a capable team. We played well (against Shamrock Rovers) but we aren't jumping through hoops because we got a 0-0 draw at home. I think in terms of performance it was much improved, but I think this will be a step up again. Even though the league campaign is over and they have won the title, I still think they'll be formidable. We have to realise that no matter what team St Pat's play, it's going to be difficult for us. We are going to have to stay in the game and try to make sure that we get a favourable result."
Derry Will be without the services of long term injury concerns Kevin Deery (knee) Sean Houston (ankle) Thomas Crawley (groin) and Stewart Greacen (knee), while Rory Patterson (hamstring) and Ruaidhri Higgins (hip) are major concerns ahead of the game. Ryan McBride will be back in the side after serving out his suspension last weekend against Shamrock Rovers.
