Strong D&D Select take on Derry City this Sunday

A DERRY & District select will get the chance to impress in front of Derry City boss, Roddy Collins this Sunday afternoon in the ‘Candy Stripes’ pre-season friendly at Brandywell Stadium. (Kick-off 2 p.m.)

The D&D side features some of the best junior footballers in the city and will be managed by Park Bar boss, Colm Cassidy and Trojans’ Paul Higgins.

Former Derry City midfielders, Darren McCready, now representing Trojans, Darren Cassidy (Park Bar) and Thomas McBride (Park Bar) will line up against Collins’ newlook squad.

One time Derry City target and former Institute striker, Joe McCready (Park Bar) plus ex-’Stute and Limavady United defender, Ryan Browne (Top of the Hill Celtic) have also been named in the Derry & District team.

The 19 chosen players have been selected from 16 sides in the Derry & District F.A and the team is dominated by Park Bar personnel which will come as no surprise as the Francis Street bar are unbeaten in the league this season.

In fact eight Park Bar players will be involved on Sunday while Trojans (three) and both Top of the Hill Celtic and Brandywell Harps (two) are also well represented.

Match officials for the game are - Mark McGarrigle, Noel Crossan and John Crossan. Admission is £3.

Terry Kelly Cup Draw

Meanwhile, the draw for the Terry Kelly Memorial Cup second round resulted as follows - Brandywell Harps v Culmore; Top of the Hill Celtic v Lisahally or Oxford; Campbell’s v Tristar; Abercorn v Trojans. Dates and venues will be announced later.
