Stuck behind enemy lines in the capital, or know someone who is? The Derry City Dublin SC is holding their first meeting of the 2014 season tomorrow night.
The meeting takes place in the Grand Central pub, corner of Lower Abbey Street and O’Connell Street with proceedings due to get underway around 7pm.
With many Derry people living, working or indeed studying in Dublin, there has always been significant number of Dublin based Candystripes attending away games, and indeed home games at the Brandywell. Since Derry’s return to football in 1985 there has been a Dublin SC, with the current inception up and running the best part of a decade.
The club is involved in organising travel to away games around Ireland, as well as more practical issues such as car sharing for weekend trips to Derry. So even if you aren’t a Derry fan, you may get some use from the club!
However the primary purpose of the club is to support the Candystripes as well as developing a social network for City fans based in Dublin. Club member organise trips to Dublin based games, as well as car pooling or overnight trips to other away games(Cork, Limerick) during the season. The club run fundraising Last Man Standing competitions, as well as other fundraising ventures for the Supporters Club and for the football club.
If you are interesting in attending tomorrow night, or you know someone who might be, please drop an email to dcfc.dublinsc at gmail dot com. The club also have a Facebook page here which they even promise to use this year!
And do not worry if you cannot make it along tomorrow night, the group will be meeting up for the first game of the season and we can add you to the mailing list for all the details on this and other club information.
